Located in north central Texas on the west side of the Dallas-Fort Worth metro area, Parker County real estate has softly rolling hills and ranchlands covered with native grass and oak trees. Cedar elms and pecan trees can also be found particularly lining the streams. The Clear Fork branch of the Trinity River runs thru east Parker County creating Lake Weatherford. To the west Mineral Wells Lake also provides recreation opportunities. Championship Golf courses abound throughout Parker County without the traffic to get there or the congestion of big city courses.
Parker County Texas Real Estate has a favorable proximity to the big cities with easy access to anyplace in the Metroplex. The area provides a suburban haven for people who appreciate a more natural environment, friendly people, and the true community atmosphere of a small town. Many of the large ranches have gradually converted into developments with wonderful home sites and ranchettes. East Parker County in particular is blossoming with upscale developments and some areas are now being developed with smaller lots. Great schools and laid back lifestyle continue to attract new residents to Aledo and beyond.
Known as the “Cutting Horse Capital of the World,” Weatherford and Parker County are home to winning horses and a large community of professional horse trainers.
Much of the Parker County economy is based in the horse and equestrian industry. There are ranches of all sizes.
For equestrian enthusiasts there is a variety of horse back riding possibilities. Typical of Texas, western pleasure remains a Parker County favorite. Trail rides and Cuttings are regular events throughout the county. Parker County is also home to several English riding stables that specialize in dressage, cross-country, show jumping and general equitation. Only 30 minutes from downtown Fort Worth and 52 miles from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport, Weatherford is the largest city in Parker County. It is also the county seat with a beautifully restored 1884 Courthouse. Much of the historic square and many older homes remain as Weatherford celebrates its 150th birthday in 2006.
Parker County homes are showcased at the Christmas Candlelight Tour and Weatherford celebrates an abundant peach crop with the Peach Festival in July. First Monday Trade Days happens each month. Great walks can be taken thru the Beautiful Chandor Gardens and historic Greenwood cemetery, with such diverse inhabitants as actress Mary Martin and Oliver Loving and Bose Ikard of “Lonesome Dove” fame. There are Antique shops and western arts and crafts but also the latest in conveniences from home improvement to department stores.
All of the smaller towns have quaint shops and wonderful hometown restaurants for a variety of tastes. Many fast food outlets are now evident as well as regional and nationally advertised chains.
Whether you are looking to raise a family or find a place to retire, affordable and friendly, Parker County is a great place to live. We’ve kept the best traditions of the Old West and added the modern conveniences today’s homeowner demands.
